Every day, our allied health professionals (AHPs) including our students play a crucial role in helping people live their lives as fully as possible. There are many different AHP roles within the Trust, and you can find out more about them below.
The recent Aspiring Allies campaign helps raise awareness of the wider roles within health and social care, specifically information on the 14 allied health professions. You may find it helpful to review the information on this site via the following link www.aspiringallies.co.uk to find out more about allied health professional (AHP) roles, inspirational stories of real staff working across West Yorkshire and a news section which focuses on various areas of health care and staff experiences.
Here is some feedback from one of our student placements (dietetics) within our Barnsley community services team.
“The whole team have been amazing, everyone is very friendly and involve you like you are part of their team. All staff are willing to answer questions and support you, I have never felt like I’m in the way or a burden. Overall it has been a great experience and it would be nice to come back. “The team and how they all interact and work so well together. Full of knowledge and enjoy passing on their knowledge without having to be asked. The supervisors ensured that I was comfortable in all settings and reassured me throughout any more stressful or difficult situations. There were many opportunities for me to see a wide range of conditions and settings, I feel like I have learnt lots from this placement.”
