Our catering team provides service within our restaurants, hospitality for meetings, vending and patient catering.
We carry out a wide range of general catering duties, providing service within our restaurants, hospitality for meetings, vending and patient catering. We have canteen facilities on-site at both Fieldhead, Wakefield and Kendray Hospital, Barnsley.
Our main role is to provide a full catering service to our service users which includes the distribution of meals to our wards. We also prepare and cook foods and send products to be cooked directly on the wards.
The catering team are also responsible for ensuring food safety and hygiene.
We provide a catering service to our staff, visitors and service users within our canteens. All food within the canteens is freshly prepared on site daily for people to take away or dine in in our restaurant facilities.
When applying to a role within our catering service you may be assigned to our dedicated service for our service users or within our in-house restaurant.

The catering department offers freshly prepared and cooked meals for staff, service users and visitors. We are committed to providing healthly nutritional meals and ensure we have vegetarian options as well as preparing meals in accordance with the dietary guidelines of Jewish and Islamic laws (Kosher and Halal). You will meet with a number of different people includng staff, service users and visitors. Our in house restaurants are based on sites where we provide health services to people who may have severe or enduring mental health illness.
Our catering teams working in our on site restaurants work shift patterns Monday to Friday. Our catering teams that provide food services to our wards work shift patterns including weekends and bank holidays.

Some of the main duties you will do in catering are:
Basic food preparation: Packing, labelling and chilling, according to set recipes and procedures
Packing and labelling of pre-prepared food for special diets
Basic cooking duties
Operating cash registers
Serving meals in the dining room
Portioning food according to portion control
Preparing restaurant counters and fridges and ensuring restaurant tables have all items ready to carry out an efficient service
Cleaning equipment and premises
