Hello, my name is Rebecca Martin I’m an advanced dietitian in the learning disability team in Calderdale.

I’m an advanced dietitian in the learning disability team in Calderdale.

I work with people who use our services, carers and health professionals in people’s homes, day centres or care home settings. This includes training for groups of staff and seeing people on an individual basis.

I give support and advice for adults with a learning disability who are trying to lose or gain weight to improve their health. This might include making plans for carers and accessible plans for people to follow.

I work with people who might find it difficult to have enough variety of food in their diet and look at ways to introduce other types of food that is acceptable for them. I also work with other professionals such as speech and language therapists to give advice and support to adults with swallowing difficulties.

I provide clinical supervision and guidance for other dietitians in our Trust who work with adults with a learning disability and also work to find ways of improving the service offered.

I am lucky to work in a fantastic team of health professionals where joint and team working is very much welcomed and valued.
